Those who think vegetarians cant be successful bodybuilders either don’t understand the different kinds of vegetarians or don’t understand bodybuilding nutrition. Arnold fostered the incorrect view that you have to eat muscle to gain muscle. The trouble with the word “vegetarian” is that so many people have used it in so many different ways that it has basically become useless so it has been replaced by more specific and meaningful words. The useless word “vegetarian” has been replaced by the following two more specific and useful words: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: A vegetarian whose diet includes dairy products, eggs, vegetables, fruits, grains, and nuts Vegan: A strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products When people today say “Vegetarian” what they are really talking about is a lacto-ovo vegetarian. In other words, a diet that does not include the parts of an animal that were not given up freely. Animals happily give up their eggs and milk so vegetarians can eat those. One reason people mistakenly believe that vegetarians cant be bodybuilders is that they mistake vegans for vegetarians. The ability to consume eggs and dairy products makes an incredible difference. Vegans (those who consume no animal products whatsoever) are at a big disadvantage when it comes to adding muscle but vegetarians are not hindered at all — lets look at why this is

    You should never eat soy. Ever. It’s dead food and has nothing good in it for the human body. Dairy is better but not by much. It’s designed to bulk up a baby cow to several hundred pounds in only a matter of months. It’s not tailored to humans in any way. They advertise it as a great source of calcium yet it’s calcium depleting because it draws calcium from your bones and teeth in order to break down the phosphorous in the milk to get the calcium and you get less than you waste in the process.

    unfortunatly soy and beans etc… are not a complete form of protien meaning they a missing various amino needed for muscle growth which doesnt mean you shouldnt eat them it just means that in order to get the appropriate aminos you’ll have to pair foods together i.e. beans and rice

    Your wrong scooby. Being a vegan in no way puts you at a disadvantage at body building. Soy, almond, milk contains the SAME amount of protein as cows milk, but contains NO fat or cholesterol as does cows milk. So you might as well through out the cows milk. Dairy is the worst part of anyones diet. And for eggs… You through half of it out anyways so why it anyways? So besides for the “protein” in it, just eat a little extra beans or nuts if you have to… Instead of eating an animal product

    Do you believe being at the top of the food chain is representative of being the most evolved ? :) i personally think that we aren’t to different to the beings that we call unevolved. what makes us more evolved?, we actually kill more, eat more and ,do more “harm” than any lion or creature on this planet, maybe just maybe. they are Reflecting us. :)

    Nuts are really good source of fat and protein. A good inbetween snack can be an apple and almonds for example. I do agree with scooby on that vegans have a harder time building muscle, but again I think they get leaner and stay leaner easier.

    I’m vegetarian. And I eat like this: Breakfest sandiwches with hommus and cucumber or some other vegetable, fruit, sometimes nuts, seeds. Or sometimes I eat oatmeal with jam or applsauce, milk, curds / or cottage cheese (I skip eggs, but you can eat that if you want ofc) fruits.. sometimes yoghurt, musli etc. For: Protein source: Beans, soyproten, eggs, meat imitators. I usually skip carbs for lunch but eat em for dinner (rice, potatos etc) so basically the same as meateaters, but vegetarian

    hey scooby am a vegetarian..i can consume milk but not any other animal product..i have read that milk contains a really low level of protein,,not even 5%..what should my meals include??what bout legumes and nuts??
