What does "reps" and "sets per muscle group" mean in terms of working out and bodybuilding?

I’ve taken advice from many people saying do 30 reps a time everyday but i have no idea what they mean.

    Reps is the number of repetitions done at one particular time, such as 8 squats. Sets is a short period of time where repetitions are clustered together. So one set of squats would be 8 repetitions done in at the same time.
